Although RIM hasn’t confirmed it officially, it looks as if the Canadian manufacturer has finally decided to cut the cost of its expensive Blackberry Playbook tablet with the 16GB version now available for £249. That’s a £150 saving on the original selling price and there’s even a £10 voucher on offer which brings the price down to £239. This is cheaper than the offer from Amazon which seems to have expired now. The cuts come a few days after RIM was criticised for an outage that affected tens of millions of users worldwide and probably permanently damaged the brand’s perception on a global scale. RIM has since said that it will give $100 of free apps to users but some would argue that the handset manufacturer needed to go much further than that.
